Colonization, oppression, and intergenerational trauma has affected how we see ourselves and how we interact with friends, relatives, co-workers, and those we serve. Internalized oppression manifests in lateral violence and the subsequent behaviors are destructive forces in all of our relationships – family, friends, community, and the workplace. Personal relationships are destroyed and community services/programs are ineffective or self-destruct. This workshop explores these dynamics, challenges participants to self-examination, and provides experiential opportunities that will support a personal and professional shift to lateral kindness.

Note: This workshop includes an equine-facilitated session that will take place in a heated riding arena located minutes from the hotel. This session offers participants an opportunity to learn lessons on how to communicate and respond to others in a manner consistent with indigenous cultural values and trauma-informed practices. Please join us in this unique experience to learn from our relatives, the Horse Nation. Transportation provided.
